Exhibition Province-Liaoning

Liaoning Province is located in the southern part of Northeast China, bordering North Korea to the east, the Yellow Sea to the south, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to the west, and Jilin Province to the north. It is about 400 miles from Beijing. 沈阳, the provincial capital, is the political, economic and cultural center of Liaoning. Together with Jilin and Heilongjiang, Liaoning was a part of the greater region of Manchuria, the birthplace of Manchu people who later conquered China to establish Qing Dynasty. It has rich historical and cultural heritage. The population is about 44 million and the annual GDP is about US$780 billion. The five major cities in the province include Shenyang沈阳, Dalian大连, Anshan鞍山, Fushun抚顺 and Jinzhou锦州. Liaoning’s main industries include heavy industry, equipment manufacturing, petrochemicals and tourism. It has a strong industrial base and is known as the “eldest son of the Republic.” Liaoning’s top 10 tourist attractions: Shenyang Imperial Palace沈阳故宫, Xinghai Square in Dalian大连星海广场, Qianshan Mountain in Anshan鞍山千山, Lei Feng Memorial Hall in Fushun抚顺雷锋纪念馆, Bijia Mountain in Jinzhou锦州笔架山, Yalu River Broken Bridge in Dandong丹东鸭绿江断桥, Xingcheng Ancient City in Huludao葫芦岛兴城古城, Benxi Water Cave本溪水洞, Panjin Red Beach盘锦红海滩, and Zhang’s Mansion in Shenyang沈阳张氏帅府.
