Taipei city in China is located at the northern tip of Taiwan Island about 150 miles northwest to Fuzhou in Fujian. In the eighteenth century, migrants from Fujian and Guangdong came and settled in the Taipei area. They formed joint-stock group engaging in land development and reclamation.
