Gansu Province is located in northwest China, bordering Shaanxi to the east, Sichuan and Qinghai to the Qinghaibe southeast, Xinjiang to the west, and Inner Mongolia to the north. It is about 1,100 miles from Beijing. The provincial capital, 兰州, is the political, economic and cultural center of Gansu. Gansu has a long history and is an important channel of the ancient Silk Road. It has rich historical relics and diverse cultures. The population is about 26 million and the annual GDP is about 330 billion US dollars. The five major cities in the province include Lanzhou兰州, Tianshui天水, Wuwei武威, Zhangye张掖 and Jiuquan酒泉.
