China is a country with a long history and vast territory with many geological landforms, such as the Qinghai and Tibet plateau, Taklimakan desert, Qinling mountain range, Karst landforms, Danxia landforms, and many other types. It also has a long history with many races living harmoniously. The country establishes itself as the land with many beauties and a country with many traditions and heritage. China has forty one world class levels of natural heritage and heritage sites and geoparks, ranking first in the world. It is a treasure of the nature and environment, and regional development as well as the common cultural heritage of mankind. China has many world natural heritage sites, among them Shennongjia (神农架) and Gaoligong Mountain (高黎贡山) are particularly unique. Shennongjia is located in Hubei and is known as the “roof of central China”. It is famous for its alpine Azalea flower, glacial landforms and rich flora and fauna biomass. It is an important ecological gemstone in the middle reach of Yangtze River. Gaoligong Mountain in Yunnan is part of the Three Parallel Rivers (三江并流). It is also a wide refuge for flora and fauna, forming a rich biodiversity area known as a “paradise on earth”. These heritage sites not only show the beauty of nature, but also reflect the outstanding ecological protection by the country. China is a big country with many geological landforms. The geological parks are widely distributed, covering volcanic landforms, karst landforms, Danxia landforms and other types, such as the volcanic wonders of Changbai Mountain World Geopark and the dinosaur fossil Great Wall of Yunyang World Geopark. They show the unique charm of earth evolution and biodiversity. They are not only a treasure house for geological research, but also promote regional development through trekking adventures and ecotourism. It truly match the words of “green water and green mountains are gold and silver mountains” China has a rich world heritage. It has 19 World Heritage Sites, ranking one of the highest in the world. These heritage sites are spreaded all over the country, such as the Forbidden City in Beijing, the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang (敦煌莫高窟), Mount Tai, and Mount Huangshan. They have both historical and cultural heritage as well as magnificent natural scenery. They are not only the treasures of Chinese civilization, but also the common cultural heritage of mankind.
