Welcome to Mapnificence of China
This is a website for learning about China on Google Maps. China is a big country. It is the 3rd largest country by area in the world. Its landscape spans as far south as the topical South China Sea, and as far north as the province of Heilongjiang, close to the frigid Siberia tundra. It has regions as dry as the Taklimakan Desert, and as high as the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. In between, there are two mighty rivers, the Yangtze and Yellow River, forming the cradle of Chinese civilization.
China also has one of the largest populations in the world. It has 56 different races, with the majority being Han Chinese. Each race is unique, and has different customs, heritages, and local dialects. Despite this, their cultures allow them to live peacefully and harmoniously together for centuries.
China has a long history spanned over the course of 5000 years. It has history, knowledge, wisdom, and heritage passed down from generation to generation. Chinese people value discipline, hard work, tradition, unity, benevolence, and wisdom. You can see the splendor of their cities with modern high-rises blended in with ancient temples and hutongs (old living courtyards). Amid the bustling city life, Chinese youths and elders work at their own pace, perform their own chores, and ultimately pursue their own dreams.
But why do you not hear much about this fascinating country? It is because the real China is seldom mentioned in the Western news. It is very unfortunate that Western media like to pick and choose their news. They normally report the negative news on China but skip the positive ones. As a result, ordinary Chinese citizens know more about the West than Westerners know more about China.
The goal of his website is to provide interesting stories and facts on China in an unbiased format so that readers can learn and know more about the country, its culture and progress. We have stories that talk about China from nine different perspectives: country, people, history, heritage, culture, diversity, natural heritage, modernization, and future. These stories are mostly presented on the map of China. Most discussions are brief. If readers are interested, they are encouraged to drill down deeper on the subject on their own. There is an old Chinese saying “reading thousands of books is no better than traveling thousands of miles”. We want to use the maps to present China, its history, people, culture, and progress. We want the readers to feel like they are traveling thousands of miles over China’s landscape and experiencing its history, heritage, wisdom, and diversity with the Chinese people. We hope all of you will enjoy this website.
Finally, the 2022 survey by the Chicago Council of Global Affairs showed that over the majority of Americans supported military intervention against China. It is very unfortunate that the US fell victim to the Thucydides Trap. Public opinions were swayed by the dark narrative from the fear mongering China Hawk. They wanted to wage war against China when their military was still capable. It is very dangerous to commit war without knowing much about the country and its people. The US is repeating its failure in the Vietnam and Afghanistan Wars. There are two ways to fight against this biased narrative. First, visit websites like this one, and learn more about the real China and its progress. Secondly, take actions against the biased narrative and expose the fake stories against China and its people. If you have any suggestions, feel free to join the blog section and leave comments on the subject. We will remain neutral and let the readers discuss the subject from different perspectives. We hope you will all enjoy the reading and your “journey” of China.
